A Massive Sea Lion Strikes A Pose
On a recent journey through the Galapagos Islands with Ecoventura I was fortunate enough to come face-to-face with a number of animals. But, perhaps none were as special as this big guy.
After landing on the tiny island of Espanola, our group of 10 slowly meandered away from one another as we strolled down the idyllic white sand beach. Along the sand we found dozens of sea lions stretched out and napping. I sat down for just a moment to feel the heat of the sand. This large male waddled his way over, sat down in front of me, and struck this perfect pose. He let out a large yawn, looked at me, and plunked himself down in the sand without a care in the world.
The Galapagos Islands is filled with moments like this. As my guide, Ivan, said, “Galapagos is the land God forgot to finish.” It’s untouched and perfect. Just the way all natural places should be. Go there, book a small boat cruise like the ones at Ecoventura and see sea lions like this for yourself.
